Local information

The workshop will take place in room -1607 of our department building at Wilhelmshöher Allee 71, 34121 Kassel. From the train station Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe, which is the station, where the fast trains (ICE) stop, you can reach our building by taking the tram line 1 (Vellmar) or 3 (Ihringshäuser Strasse) to the fourth stop (Murhardstrasse/Universität). A ticket for a short trip (Kurzstrecke) for 1.60 Euro suffices for this trip. When you get off the tram at Murhardstrasse/Universität, then our department building is the big dark red building on your right. Please, use entrance C, and then you'll find pointers that will lead you to the conference room on the ground level at the back of the building.

Travelling by Car

There is a parking lot just behind our building that the workshop participants may use. You have to enter this parking lot from Ziegelstrasse. The easiest way to get here from the motorway is as follows:
  • Leave Autobahn A 49 at Exit Auestadion
  • Stay on the current road across the major intersection with Frankfurter Strasse
  • Follow Ludwig-Mond-Strasse to the end, where the two lines merge
  • Follow Schönfelder Strasse across the intersection with Tischbeinstrasse
  • Turn right into Gräfestrasse, which is the second street after that intersection
  • Immediately turn left into Ziegelstrasse
  • Follow Ziegelstrasse for about 200 meters, and then turn right into the University Parking lot. The gate should be open!
  • You may park at any free space.
  • The workshop takes place in room -1607, which is in the first building, and which you can enter directly from the parking lot.

Getting to the CIAA 2014 Conference in Gießen

There is a direct train connection from Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe to Gießen which is served by two types of trains: Intercity trains (IC) and regional trains (RE). The more comfortable, faster (by 4 minutes) and more expensive IC-trains run every odd hour, while the regional trains depart half an hour earlier. The trip takes about 1 hour 20 minutes. The fastest way to get to Gießen by train after the closing of NCMA 2014 is to take a tram from the conference site to the train station Kassel-Wilhemshöhe (ca. 7 min) and then get on the IC-train departing at 3:03 p.m. and arriving in Gießen at 4:21 p.m. More informatin can be found at www.bahn.de.

Sightseeing on Sunday afternoon

For those, who are already in Kassel on Sunday afternoon we recommend to visit the impressiv waterfeatures (Wasserspiele) in Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, which was recently anounced to be a UNESCO world heritage site.
